1. Overview
Smarty is a personal SMS-based assistant operated by Eric Reo for household coordination, list management, and group experiences. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information from individuals who interact with Smarty via SMS text message.
By using the Smarty service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Consent and Opt-In
Smarty only contacts individuals who have provided explicit prior verbal consent.
Before any phone number is added to the service, the service operator personally explains the following to the individual: what Smarty is and what types of messages they will receive; that standard message and data rates may apply; and that they can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
Only after the individual verbally confirms their agreement is their number added to the service. We do not send unsolicited messages. We do not add phone numbers to the service without prior explicit verbal consent from the number's owner.
When you are added to the service with verbal consent, you receive an introductory SMS confirming your enrollment and explaining how to opt out.

3. Information We Collect
When you interact with Smarty, we may collect: your mobile phone number; the text content of SMS messages you send; photos or media you send (used only for your specified purpose); the date and time of each message; your current service mode; and items you add to lists through the service.
We do not collect your name unless you provide it, your location unless you provide it, financial information, biometric data, or information from third-party data brokers.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use information solely to operate the Smarty service: to respond to your messages, to maintain your preferences, to operate group experiences with your knowledge and consent, to display relevant content on shared screens with your awareness, and to improve service quality. We do not use your information for advertising, sale to third parties, or automated profiling.
5. SMS Messaging Practices
Smarty uses Twilio to send and receive SMS messages. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Message frequency varies based on your usage.
- Opt-out: Reply STOP to any message to immediately stop receiving messages. We will cease contact and remove your number from active service upon receipt of STOP.
- Help: Reply HELP to any Smarty message for assistance and opt-out instructions.
- Opt-in keywords: START, YES, JOIN
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored locally on servers operated by the service operator in the United States, protected by Cloudflare Tunnel encryption (HTTPS/TLS). We use the following third-party services:
- Twilio (SMS delivery) — twilio.com/legal/privacy
- Google Gemini API (AI responses) — ai.google.dev/terms
- Cloudflare (network security) — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Information may be shared within a consented group session with your knowledge; transmitted to Google Gemini API for AI processing; or disclosed if required by law.
8. Your Rights
You may opt out by replying STOP. You may request access to, deletion of, or correction of your data by contacting [email protected]. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Smarty is not directed at children under 13. Contact [email protected] to report and delete any such data.
